Clutching her knees tight as ever whilst sitting on the feathery emerald grass, Rena glanced at the brunet sitting right next to her. He was clearly enjoying himself, with a smile plastered on his face. His eyes seemed to be unfocused, as if he wasn't looking at anything in particular. This allowed Rena's thoughts to run wild, but she intended to share a thought with Keiichi for several minutes now. "Kei-chan?" She called out. Keiichi snapped out of what he was doing, turning his head to look at Rena. "Yeah?"

"Is there a God?"

A question he was not prepared for. Rena wasn't known to be asking such complicated questions, especially about anything religion-related. "I mean, there's the guardian deity," he responded, still a little unsure of what to say. "Yes, but does it really exist?"
Scratching his head, Keiichi let out a deep sigh. "Is it even a guardian deity if it's associated with a Curse? What's the point if it doesn't do any good?" Rena continued. "Why are you even asking?" Keiichi interrupted her, without thinking twice. "I didn't think you were into that kind of stuff."

"Yeah, but..." The girl scratched her chin, "If there is no God, then where did the universe come from?" "Oh, come on!" The brunet expressed, clearly overwhelmed with the amount of thinking he had to do. This exctracted a giggle from the orange-haired girl. "Let's not talk about it now, then," Rena offered, "Come on! Let's go to the junkyard~!"

And with that, the two went to the dam construction site, where they spent hours looking through one man's garbage and one man's treasure.

A/N: an odd topic for some weird horror anime but still an interesting concept nonetheless. i don't know how to do it justice. a short story written in a short time. nothing more and nothing less.
